In 1984 archaeologists had discovered the clay figures of warriors and horses from seven locations of the Lion Hill area (Shizi Mountain). These warriors and horses were buried under the Lion Pond.
Archaeologists believe that those warriors and horses were buried underground as funeral objects with the deceased King of Chu State upon completion of the tomb.
Local governments have spent millions in archaeological excavations and an underwater warrior exhibition museum has been established on the original location where the warriors and horses were found. |
